Peace A CD by St. Joseph's School Band
|
|
Friday, June 12th 1998, was an historic day for the band. For on that day they saw all their hard work come to fruition with the launch of the 'Peace' CD by an Tanaiste Mary Harney T.D. But that's not all! She was so taken with the C.D. that she decided, on behalf of the government, to send all the party leaders involved in the Good Friday Agreement a copy, including Senator George Mitchell and President Bill Clinton. Wow!
In the Minister's Press Release she paid tribute to St. Joseph's "for its unique and entertaining promotion of peace and the Good Friday Agreement". Needless to say, she went on to praise and compliment John Fitzgerald "for his dedication and vision in this project" and she wished the band every success with its visit to schools in Armagh on June 17th. That's right! The school band went on tour, playing their songs in both Catholic and Protestant schools.

But wait there's more! The school band also recorded for a radio show: Donncha O' Dulaing's programme 'Failte Isteach' for R.T.E.
Now how many schools can say that their band recorded a CD, went on tour and were broadcast on National radio?
It's no wonder we are so proud of Joeys.
