We had a fantastic time celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in our school this year, with a wide range of activities that brought Irish language, music, sport, and culture to life for all of our pupils.
One of the highlights of the week was Irish dancing in the hall, led by Anne McCarthy. Every class took part, learning and practicing traditional steps with great energy and enthusiasm. This all built towards our “Céilí sa Chlós,” where, after lunch, the entire school gathered in the yard for a whole-school céilí. It was a joyful occasion, with music, movement, and plenty of smiles on display.
Our “Ceolchoirm Lá Fhéile Pádraig” was another standout event. Each year group performed two songs or poems as Gaeilge in the hall, showcasing their hard work and confidence. The atmosphere was made even more festive as all the boys dressed in green for the occasion.
We also enjoyed a whole-school game of Bingo as Gaeilge, brilliantly led over the intercom by Ms. Devaney. There was great excitement throughout the building, with lucky winners receiving Easter eggs.
To top it all off, our magnificent school band proudly represented us at the St Patrick Festival, opening celebrations in the Church of the Immaculate Conception alongside pupils from neighbouring schools.
It was a truly memorable Seachtain na Gaeilge, full of fun, learning, and pride in our Irish culture.
